so, the whole hair thing. last october i got my hair cut. my cuzn did his usual, #1 fader all the way around. it was sharp. after he finished and cleaned up the back of my neck i trimmed the front, evened it all out, and looked even sharper. Pimp daddy some said. THAT was the last time clippers touched my head.

for six months my hair was its on entity, seperate from my body. or perhaps it just became thousands of tiny limbs on my head that i had yet to learn to control. either way, it was wild.

finally in january it needed a bit of taming. i went to the local Hair cuttery for a trim. a small trim, and at that place they put product in my hair for the first time in years! i think.

and so the hair continued to grow and evolve. i was discriminated and hated upon by those who failed to understand the mop that i was always standing under. they didnt know it’s potential, what powers were hidden beneath it. i did not let them get the best of me. i constantly changed it, sometimes it was up, sometimes it was down. every week was a surprise.

but alas, i was tired of it by the end of the fifth month. a change was needed. what would i do? hire a stylist? get another trim? let it just be? but i knew the decision i had to make.

and so, as we watched Omarosa blow kwame’s chance at being the Apprentice, my hair was given the axe…er, the scissors, and the clippers. and it fell, into the trash bag, at the hand of my cuzn, Andrew, AKA Narco.

so its all gone now.

and i saw kill bill today. slower paced, wont spoil it for you. but if i were you id stay all the way til the end of teh credits. cuz i dint and you can tell me if there was anything at the end to stay for

so this entry is just for shoes.

Shoes has been tellin me to listen to this guy, Shane Barnard. and i said listen to David Crowder Band, and some other ppl, but all he can talk about is Shane Barnard. so last week i said, lets see what this shane is all about, and i looked him up online.

i found his site. apparently he’s one half of Shane and Shane. Shane Barnard and Shane Everett. two twenty-some guys with acoustic guitars, still havent heard them. then, on the corner of their page, “4/14 – Philadelphia Biblical University, Langhorne, PA.” hmm, that place is jsut down the street from me, wonder if Shoes knows about it. so sunday i told him and he said, wow, really? maybe ill go. and we left it at that. totally forgot about it, almost.

Wednesday, the 14th, i get a phone call from shoes around 4:30, “so, whens the concert?”

I was puzzled, “What concert?” I puased, “OH! The Shane and Shane concert!? It’s at 8″

“You going?”

“Are you going? I’ll go if you go. You’re the one that listens to them.”

“Well i gotta call some people and see if they want to go and I’ll call you back.”

so i went about my business. i had a busy day at work and i was tired and beat, but i figured i had thursday off so id be alright. around 530 he called again, “So right now it looks liek it’ll be jsut you and me, but i have to check with my dad to see if i can get the car.”

“Alright, sounds good, lata.”

I figured hed get here by 730 and we’d get there by 740, or earlier. He lives about 20 minutes away. 7 rolls around, still no call, so i figured he wasnt comin. 710, and my phone rings, “hey, im 2 minutes away from your house. I’m comin, you ready?” well of course not, but i jsut changed real quick and i was set. i got downstairs and he was busy eating food, some pizza we had left.

it didn’t really matter, we got there around 730, and the line was fairly long, not too long. by 745 the line was really long. 8, and they were still running sound check. finally, around 830 maybe they opened the doors.

there were two opening acts. first was James Clay, he’s signed to inPOP Records apparently. He’s got LONG hair, i mean almost waist lengthe hair. at first i think everyone thought it was a wig. he sang about 3-4 songs. kinda sounds like dave mathews, at least according to Shoes.

Then there was Bethany Dillon. She’s on SParrow Records. not bad, she’s 15 and has an incredible voice. its just so deep and mature. reminds me of jennifer knapp. but she did some awesome songs. she was the hero to girl sitting next to me. i know this because at one point she screamed out, “YOU’RE MY HERO!” a couple times she had to pause to tune her guitar, and while she tuned she told stories.

And of course, Shane and Shane. they were great. did some awesome songs. shane b has some nice guitar styles, specially that super fast strum he throws in the middle of some songs. but i liked them. they did about an hour or two, maybe more? they ended with a worship set which was great.

we were in the back, last row, and we saw elvin and binu come in. they sat elsewhere, we weren’t cool enough for them, or maybe it was vice versa =P. neway, at the back i was just droolin over the soundboard. ah, to be a roady.

anyways, got home round 11, and thursday i was off. wont get into how annoying it is living with my parents specially after what they did that night. and that was my fun day with SHoes, and this is the end of my entry for Shoes.

wow, no post since monday. seems like a long time, but prolly just me. im so addicted.

so i now have video on my website, and the embedded player works. i want to put more stuff up, but i only have so much space. if you want to see more videos, click the donate button to give me money. if you just want to give me money, click it anyway.

my internet went down last night, iunno what it was, but it was probably storm related. i got it back though. thought id be unable to update some changes to my site that i was in the middle of doing.

i have all these video games that i bought and have not played. iunno why. well, maybe its cuz my the TV thats connected to the systems is in the basement and the basement is still not finished. i have the second Splinter Cell, Project Gotham 2, Top Spin, Ghost Recon: Island THunder and a buncha others that i bought, opened, and did not play. its not that they’re not good games its jsut i dont get to it. then there are games that ive bought that i havent finished, like FFX, my brothers beat it, just stopped playin it.

then there Kingdom Hearts. I LOVE that game. its so awesome, the eptiome of RPG. well, maybe RPG/Action. it’s definitly more like Zelda than FF. but i bought that game when it first came out, that was almost two years ago. and i was playin it and gettin pretty far. and then my cuzn got married. she got married and the wedding was up here. and the one night we decided to have a lil dinner party at our house, and so we had to reorganize the basement. this was in october 2002, before we had our basement finished. and so we moved everyhting around, and i had to move all the game systems and games and TV and everything to a corner. after the party it took a while for us to move everything and i hadnt played in a while, and i forgot to get back to it. if i played it now, it might take a while for me to remember where i was, but i could always start from the beginning.

apprentice finale tomorow. i think Bill’s gonna win, and its not TOTALLY kwame’s fault, but mostly Omarosa’s. shes gonna mess it all up. BUT, kwame should man up and tell her that she messed up and give her another job to get her outta the way.

heard on the radio today that the winner will celebrate with a special cocktail at the Trump called “You’re Hired”. its a $1000 cocktail made with a $600 liquor or sumtin. if you cant afford that you can get “You’re Fired” which is only $10. least thats what i hurrd.

Anyone catch the Nick & Jessica Hour before Alias last sunday? they’re REALLY tryin to copy Sonny & Cher. it wasnt TOO bad, i suppose. they sang “I Got you Babe” at the end, just to make it obvious what they were upto i guess.

Why is Quentin Tarintino so good?! man! i watched Reservoir Dogs last night. (Yes, ashamedly, for the first time.) it was great. it wasnt amaziing compared to his more recent owrk, but for the time, definitley breakthrough. bought Kill Bill v1 also. HOPING to see V2 this weekend, if i can get someone to go with me. any volunteers?

alright, gonna go do something productive, i hope

My wrist is sprained. yes it is. either that or sumtins broke. either way it hurts like hell. well not that bad. might be carpel tunnel (sp?) i may never play guitar again

i dint go to work on saturday, cuz my hand was killin me in the mornin. plus, i really dint feel like goin in. im not usually like that. in the three years i’ve worked at Best Buy i’ve only missed a weeks worth of days, prolly less. and only twice has it been because i dint feel like going. but i need a new job cuz workin part-time here is not worth it since i dont have any benefits. hopefully ill get that governement job or sumthin else.

so i put some really bad recordings on my website to share with some friends. recordings of me singing some songs i wrote. the one was with koolaid, and it wasnt so bad. my voice sux, a truth which is evident in the other recording which was just me and layla, my classical guitar. layla sounded good. i sounded like “a constipated white boy.” not my words, but very accurate. anyway, i took ‘em off, so ha!

now there is video on my website. eats up a lotta space. two videos so far. find ‘em on my front page. click here: http://www.indianbear.com

well today was a boring day. not much to tell.

i been doin the sound at church. better than before, but i over compressed it this weekend. i know what to fix. i recorded it so i could tell what needed to be fixed, although the recording isnt an accurate representation of the live sound, it still helps me out. and levels were a bit off. we need more equipment, but what we have will do. need compressor’s on individual channels, or at least the instruments. new 31-band equalizer for the house speakers, and more monitors. well, that n a whole lot more i suppose.

tomorows another day of work. whoo hoo. only 6 hours, so not too bad.

Flyers lost. damn those Devils

today i went to gutiar center to return some things that i had bought. things that i did not need. it was gonna be real quick, return and go. i had to wait for someone in front of me, and while i waited i decided id buy some strings, and a new angled lead to replace the one i broke about a month ago.

i was looking at the cables and noticed a display of line 6 amps and amp modelers. they were all very delicious, full of features that i could play with all day. but the one i wanted wasnt there, maybe it was somewhere else, but i didnt see it. i turned back towards the counter and the cables and behold, there it was!

The Line 6 DL4. it was locked away in the glass. two fo them. their emerald skin bursting through the menagerie of pedals in the case. my mouth watered. reverse, digital delay, analog delay, delay + mod, and, the reason all other delay effects are turning green with envy, the 14-second loop sampler.

i was still waiting, and the wait made me want it even more, but how could i afford it? then i remembered, i had received my tax refund last Friday. i licked the saliva from the corner of my lips. i must have it.

there were two of them. both used. one new, undented, no manual box or any other accesory. the other inside a worn box. yet the one in the box was $10 cheaper. the new one was new, clean looking. the boxed one might be dented, scratched, but probably sounded the same. was appearance worth $10?

the sales clerk turned to me, thinkin i had a quick return-and-purchase, asked me “Is there anything else you wanted to get today?”

I pointed to the glass case, “Those Line 6 pedals any good?” Of course they were, it’s Line 6, but i wasnt sure if i wanted to buy them.

“Yea, they’re awesome, wanna take a look?” i asked for the one in the box. my frugality took over physical appearance. he opened it, and as expected, it was scratched up, but nothing major. “If you want i can hook it up so you can try it out,” he continued, “Let me ring these people up real quick and ill set it up.”

I waited looked around. waited for about 20 minutes. the lady had to call her son and i was understanding, being a retail worker myself. finally he set it up, and it was awesome! he looped some rythm, and proceeded to solo over it. Then, he overdubbed the rythm with a little solo, and played some more. my mind was set and i bought it. $190 of stunning features.

its beautiful. i cant speak enough about it. i want the FM4 and the MM4, regular price for each of them: $249.

anyway, thats my story of how a $30 return turned into a $190 purchase. i want to work at Gutiar center. id love it. but they dont wanan hire me. iunno, maybe sometime soon.

WHy? WHY?!

today at work floyd showed me this CD. i was not prepared for this. it was William Hung’s “Inspiration”. WHAT THE HELL!? he got a friggin record deal with Koch Records (ne’r heard of em) and he covers all these popular songs, from “She Bangs”, “Shake Your Bon-Bon”, “Circle of Live”, “Can You Feel The Love Tonight”, and others. he’s even got a track called “Inspirational THoughts: Passion”, where he talks about how he does this not for the money but for the art of singing. WHAT ART? It’s just a load of crap that this no name label put out to milk some money outa of Hung’s Infamy. apparently it also contains never before seen footage of him. On the cover he sports a Berkley sweat shirt and a big cheesy, crooked-toothed smile. This has got to be one of the lowest points of the music industry.

I’m even more pissed cuz i keep getting these stupid text messages. about a year ago, maybe less, i signed up for Yahoo! text message alerts, on news, weather, sports, and some other stuff. normally its been good alerts. i found there is at least one act of terrorism done almost everyday. neway, its been ringing NON-STOP with these stupid text messages about the pullitzer prizes. thats great, send me a brief summary, or who won the big ones, but not one text message for each winner! and i havent gotten any weather reports for the past week. grr!

iunno why im so angry. maybe its work. we had to move all the fridges, washers, dryers, and oven ranges back onto the floor, cuz they moved them off the tile to wax the tile. thats about 40 washers/dryers, 40 ranges, 40 fridges. all from 6am to 10am.

i also ate some bad meat on saturday. i came home around 5, and my mom was like take food fromt he fridge, and left to go somewhere. i knew there was this noodle thing, and i looked and there was also these steaks. they were in some sauce and pretty good lookin, so i took that along with my mom’s noodles. they were a lil pink, not too pink. medium i guess. and i eat them, and i feel alright i guess. and my mom calls later, “You didnt eat that meat did you? Cuz it’s not fully cooked.” Oops! well im still alive, and i feel alright.

AGH! another friggin text message! as soon as i read one and put my phone downt heres another one! if i break my phone cuz of this im suing Yahoo!

So today was the day i recorded Broken Vessels at Crystal Clear. my first recording session as recording engineer. it was a bit rough, got there at 12 and waited for Joey (the owner) to show up to open up the place. I had never used his equipment before. he thinks ive seen him use it cuz i sat in on sessions, but i only sat in on editting sessions, not recording sessions. neway, most of the equipment was vaguley familiar, and after the first track was laid down i got in the flow.

Joe laid the beats down. HOTT beats. said he used fruity loops. good stuff. reminds me of pharell. kinda looks like him a lil bit too.

messed up a wee bit. first song i wanted them to record each vocal on a seperate track, but guess i wasnt clear, cuz they switched up and where ont he same track. but i think it’ll be alright and we can fix that on the mixing process. after the second song though we had it all worked out, and they knew what to do.

later we were doing phils part and he needed to go over some of his words, and when i went to punch him in, i had forgotten to engage his track. such a stupid rookie mistake. he had to go back and RErecord his lines from that point.

i do have to give em props cuz tehy were well rehearsed and most of it got done in one take, two at the most. except where i messed up the one time.

i coulda been a better engineer. =\ i think i like live sound better than studio, just cuz its a bit more dynamic. then again, we were only recording vocals. there were 6 songs, bout 30 minutes for all of em. 4 vocal tracks, 2 beat tracks per song, all took 4 hours to lay down. we’re gettin together to mix n edit thursday evenin. hopefully ill get more sleep and be able to think properly.

i ate some bad meat. ill write bout that later
