Line 6 DL4 at Guitar Center

today i went to gutiar center to return some things that i had bought. things that i did not need. it was gonna be real quick, return and go. i had to wait for someone in front of me, and while i waited i decided id buy some strings, and a new angled lead to replace the one i broke about a month ago.

i was looking at the cables and noticed a display of line 6 amps and amp modelers. they were all very delicious, full of features that i could play with all day. but the one i wanted wasnt there, maybe it was somewhere else, but i didnt see it. i turned back towards the counter and the cables and behold, there it was!

The Line 6 DL4. it was locked away in the glass. two fo them. their emerald skin bursting through the menagerie of pedals in the case. my mouth watered. reverse, digital delay, analog delay, delay + mod, and, the reason all other delay effects are turning green with envy, the 14-second loop sampler.

i was still waiting, and the wait made me want it even more, but how could i afford it? then i remembered, i had received my tax refund last Friday. i licked the saliva from the corner of my lips. i must have it.

there were two of them. both used. one new, undented, no manual box or any other accesory. the other inside a worn box. yet the one in the box was $10 cheaper. the new one was new, clean looking. the boxed one might be dented, scratched, but probably sounded the same. was appearance worth $10?

the sales clerk turned to me, thinkin i had a quick return-and-purchase, asked me “Is there anything else you wanted to get today?”

I pointed to the glass case, “Those Line 6 pedals any good?” Of course they were, it’s Line 6, but i wasnt sure if i wanted to buy them.

“Yea, they’re awesome, wanna take a look?” i asked for the one in the box. my frugality took over physical appearance. he opened it, and as expected, it was scratched up, but nothing major. “If you want i can hook it up so you can try it out,” he continued, “Let me ring these people up real quick and ill set it up.”

I waited looked around. waited for about 20 minutes. the lady had to call her son and i was understanding, being a retail worker myself. finally he set it up, and it was awesome! he looped some rythm, and proceeded to solo over it. Then, he overdubbed the rythm with a little solo, and played some more. my mind was set and i bought it. $190 of stunning features.

its beautiful. i cant speak enough about it. i want the FM4 and the MM4, regular price for each of them: $249.

anyway, thats my story of how a $30 return turned into a $190 purchase. i want to work at Gutiar center. id love it. but they dont wanan hire me. iunno, maybe sometime soon.
