Inside Bessy

Dec 17th, 2003 Posted in And So It Happened | No Comments »

So I just cleaned out my car. My 1990 Toyota Camry. Ol’ Bessy. I called her that cuz drivin her felt like drivin an old cow. Whenever i started her up in the cold she’d be stubborn and make me turn the key at least 3 times before starting. I’d be saying “C’mon Bessy!” You could put the key in, start her up, take the key out, throw it out the window, and drive wihtout it. That car was Ghetto Fabolous. I was gonna pimp her out and everything, get her a nice body kit and all.

I had put in a new head unit with an MP3 CD player, a Sony MP40. Not bad, pretty nice. I took out the MP40 and put back the old stock head unit. It was an old cassette deck thats missin the knobs for balance and bass/treble.

The Day Bessy Died

Dec 15th, 2003 Posted in And So It Happened | No Comments »

(sometimes i don’t feel like writing but i force my self jsut to get all of this out)

man, what a bad weekend

So that whole thing with my brothers happened (see Dec 13), and then a whole buncha other crap happened. i woke up saturday mornin round 1130 and didnt sleep at all the rest of the day.

I went to work Satuday night. Most nights we have to put up the products fromt he truck. the inventory team pulls the product out onto the floor, and from 10pm-6am the merch team (my department) puts up the products in the store. a good truck day is when teh truck is less than 800 pieces. a bad one is when its more than 1200 or so. saturday night was 1400. It wasnt too bad, but some people…MAN! they just take their time. didnt get home til round 830.

So i go home, it starts sleeting and lil snow, not too bad. i get home and get ready for church, without sleepin at all yet. my parents leave with the van leavin the three of us on our own to go to chruch, which is normal. They called and told as that cuz its slipery outside we had to take my car, cuz my brothers car is rear-wheel drive. That’s fine we just had to pump gas ont he way.

The roads were covered in sleet and snow and VERY slippery. on the way down Rt. 1 i decided to stop at the sunoco, cuz its fairly cheap there. So i try to turninto the first entrance, but the as i turn the car jsut goes straight. i cant stop it or anything. finally it stops and i have to turn into the second entrance. pump $7.00 of gas, enough to get to and back from church.

so we’re continuin down the road, and we have to turn right onto Byberry. This right turn is where the one lane jsut goes right, and there’s this little curb island there. i’m going fairly slow, 20-25MPH. i turn right and the car goes just every so slightly to the right, but goes straight. the wheels are turned completely tot he right and im pumpin the brakes (THAT NEVER WORKS!) and the car keeps moving, not stoppin and BAM! right up the curb. So the front driver side corner of the car is up on top of the curb. i bak up and pull a bt o the side, and examin the damage and it seems ok, tires messed up and all, nto flat, but teh axles sure to be messed up. i decided to drive it to church anyway. bout 5-10 more minutes to go. the gear shift is very hard-pressed to move to the poper gears.

i turn right and go on and try letting go of the steering wheel. Lo and behold the car turns to the left, not jsut slightly veering off, but trning as if i was turning into a driveway. i have to turn right in order o drive straight! at one light i didnt turn the wheel, i just let go to make the left turn. another light comes, it’s red and im trying to stop. brakes, Brake! BRAKE! it’s not stopping there are cars crossing, a pickup truck im about to hit, so i smahs the horn and honk, hoping they’ll move outta the way, since i cant move. the one car slows and stops, and fortunatley i stop too. we finally get to church and i park where i cant hit no one.

im low on sleep and tired, and now my car is messed up. i went in saw my mom told her and was jsut mad that in such bad weather they coudlnt wait for us. man, im mean to my parents…

i played bass during worship, and worship went well. We sang some older songs, but Shoes revitalized em, of course, in his own Shoes way. after that i went to watch the chirldren’s church. not really part of it, jsut watchin, sleepin… then churhc was over, chillin, talkin to kool-aid and Lyrical. slept form 2-8, work again, no truck, nto too bad, and im home.

Pinky said my hair looks good long! YESH! if only other knew how good it was…
